There are two types of UK Tier 4 visas for long-term study

The Tier 4 (Child) visa and the Tier 4 (General) student visa.

  1. The child student visa is for children between four and 17 to study at a UK independent school. The UK tier 4 general student visa is for anyone over 16 going to study a course or degree.

The Tier 4 (Child) visa costs £348 to apply. If you’re 16 or 17 when you apply, you can stay up to three years and four months depending on the requirements of the course you’re enrolled in. If you’re under 16, you can stay up to six years and four months depending on the course you’re enrolled in.

The Tier 4 (General) visa also costs £348. The time you can stay also depends on the course you’re enrolled in.

Visa processing time
